Role Overview

The Pharmacy Technician, reporting to Director, Clinical Pharmacy Operations, is responsible for providing support to Accolade Health Assistants on pharmacy claims and benefit questions.  The Pharmacy Technician will also act as a liaison between the pharmacy plan, the pharmacy, and the members to solve complex pharmacy issues.  They will work closely with the Pharmacists at Accolade ensuring the benefit information in our system is kept up to date, complete, and accurate and also work to identify opportunities within our system to improve how we assist members in an efficient and forward thinking way.

A Day in the Life

  • Handle benefits, coverage and claims questions, including understanding the root cause of the issue.
  • Listen, assess, and comprehend member’s presenting issue(s) and use judgment and problem solving to take appropriate action
  • Educate colleagues on benefit coverage design (e.g., deductible, out-of-pocket costs, co-pays/co-insurance) for specific treatment options.
  • Batch and organize the Health Assistants complex pharmacy claims and work with pharmacy plans for timely and accurate solutions.
  • Develops solid working relationship and processes with pharmacy plans.
  • Provides colleagues with timely and accurate solutions to their member’s complex pharmacy problems.
  • Comply with Company and HIPAA guidelines.

 

What we are looking for…        

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician is required.
  • A thorough understanding of the medication delivery system through a retail pharmacy setting or previous experience with pharmacy benefits from a payor side is preferred. This must be coupled with the ability to be flexible and open to change since Accolade’s philosophy and operations are so different from these traditional settings.
  • Solid technical skills.
  • Ability to engage others by being a good listener with a solid capacity for empathy.
  • Possess excellent communications skill and the ability to convey passion and enthusiasm
  • Possess solid ingenuity, judgment and problem solving skills
  • Strong ability to engage teammates to solve issues for members
  • Organized, dependable and thorough
  • Flexible with a high tolerance for ambiguity
  • The ability for self-reflection and the capacity to accept and utilize feedback is essential
  • Must display honesty and integrity
  • Must be comfortable working in a telephonic environment with members, health plans, and providers
  • Examples of prior job experience/expertise:
    • Retail Pharmacy Technician (or Lead Technician)
    • Pharmacy Plan Call Center Customer Care Representative
    • Pharmacy Plan or third party payer Team Lead or Supervisor with strong technical skills (business expertise)
    • Accolade Health Assistant
